A paradise for trekkers, mountaineers and naturalists, the Khumbu or Everest region of Nepal offers a number of rewarding adventurous treks and expeditions, Everest Base Camp trek being the most popular one. Imagine walking through many rural villages, with constant views of most of the highest snow-capped peaks in the world, and ultimately landing at Everest Base Camp, the major base where daring mountaineers set their camp before attempting to summit the 8,848m high Sagarmata or Mt. During our Everest Base Camp trek you can enjoy some of the best features of Sagarmatha National Park such as the beautiful village of Namche, the incomparable Himalayan vista from Kalapatthar (5,545m) — the highest point throughout the trip, and extraordinarily close and incredible views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Lhotse from Everest Base Camp itself. Besides, you get to visit some very old monasteries and mingle with the brave Sherpas who have a peculiar lifestyle and culture.
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu International Airport – (1,360 meters)
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel. After refreshments, our senior guide will give you a briefing about Everest Base Camp Trek. Later, you can then go for a little walk and have dinner.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing
Kathmandu is the historical and cultural center of the country. It is a popular destination for tourists, trekkers and adventure seekers. With a fusion of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western cultural influences, Kathmandu is a sight to behold. Today you will spend seeing some UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley.
Day 03: Flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding – (2,652m) – 3 to 4 hour trek
A scenic flight to Lukla will bring us to the start of our trek. After meeting the supporting crew, we head up the Dudh Kosi Valley on a well-marked trail and then stay overnight in Phakding.
Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar – (3,440m) – 6 hour trek
After breakfast at Phakding we trek towards Namche. On a clear day, we will get the first glimpses of Mt Everest from here. We will spend the night on this gateway to the Khumbu region.
Day 05: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar – (3,440m)
It is quite easy to spend the day in Namche. With an abundance of lodges, cafes and shops, it is an ideal place to acclimatize for the journey ahead to the higher altitudes. You can take short hikes around town and spend the evening enjoying the sunset.
Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche – (3,860m) – 5 hour trek
After breakfast in Namche, we start our trek towards Tengboche. With closeup views of the highest mountains, we will follow the ups and downs of the trail that is beautiful and full of vegetation. Notable ones are pine forests. Later, after a satisfying lunch, we will take a steep climb up to reach Tengboche, a place with an iconic Buddhist monastery.
Day 07: Trek from Tengboche to Pheriche – (4,410 m) – 5 hour trek
At first we come downhill through a forest and cross Imja river before climbing steadily to the village of Pangboche situated opposite Mt. Ama Dablam (6,856 m). It has wonderful and pristine views of the mountain with scattered pine forests in the foreground. Another two hours, and we reach Pheriche where we stay at a lodge after a nice dinner.
Day 08: A day of rest in Pheriche – (4,410 m)
Today we acclimatize amid nature, but we recommend you to take little hikes around. Go especially to see nearby mountains. Notable ones are Cholatse and Tawase. We can also climb up to a ridge for a superb view of Mt. Lhotse and Imja Valley below. Stay overnight at a lodge in Pheriche.
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche – (4,910m) – 5 hour trek
Today, we continue up the wide valley located below the majestic peaks of Cholatse and Tawache and then do a steep climb towards the foot of Khumbu Glacier. After lunch, we follow the zigzag trail upwards to eventually reach the cluster of houses at Lobuche. We will stay for a good night’s sleep here in Lobuche.
Day 10: Trek to Everest Base Camp and return to Gorakshep – (5,400m) – 8 hour trek
Immediately after a good breakfast, we climb through meadows and the moraine to reach Gorakshep. After that we will either climb to Kala Patthar or continue towards Everest Base Camp. From Kala Patthar, we get to see the entire south face of Mt. Everest. Alternatively, having reached Everest Base Camp, we will enjoy the satisfaction and then return to Gorakshep for the night.
Day 11: Trek to Pheriche via Kala Patthar – (4,210m) – 7 hour trek
At dawn, we can climb Kalapatthar (5,545 m) to enjoy a panoramic and spectacular sunrise. Later, we will trek back to Pheriche. Along the way we will encounter yaks herds amid a scenic trail before reaching Pheriche, the windy village. We stay overnight at a lodge.
Day 12: Trek to Namche – (3,440m) – 6 hour trek
We return to Namche after a trek of about 6 hours from Pheriche. Amid the hustle and bustle of Namche, we can enjoy the evening before dinner and bed.
Day 13: Trek to Lukla – (2,800m) – 7 hour trek
Today we start after breakfast and continue to retrace our hike to Lukla along Dudh Koshi River. The walk is around average pace, which will bring us to Lukla. Stay in a lodge here enjoying the good food and rest for the night.
Day 14: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu – 45 minutes
Catch an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. It’s a scenic flight of about forty five minutes. You touch down at Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day around the city or just stay at leisure.
Day 15: Flight back home
After breakfast, our staff will take you to the airport three hours before your scheduled flight back home.
